They said about my work:
«This was an absolutely spectacular submission. Your simplistic approach to the music was refreshing and truly helped the visuals, action, and sound design shined through. By not over complicating the music we got a true sense of emotion in every scene. The opening sequence was ambient and ethereal and perfectly matched what we were looking for. And the battle music had the intensity required for a fight but with a simplicity that wasn\'t overbearing or falsely epic. I don\'t want my feedback to be all positive praise because I would like to also give you some notes to help you improve. But I would say the only areas for improvement would be that I would have liked to hear a more drastic change as we entered the village. I think that is a big enough change in setting that we should have a matching change in the music. It also would have been nice if there was a common theme that was recognizable in every scene we had. Themes don\'t necessarily need to be melodic, they can be a recognizable sound, instrument, rhythm, for almost anything else. Congratulations on a stellar submission. I truly enjoyed listening to this one and I wish you the best of luck in all your future musical endeavors.»
My mockup video for the Indie Game Music Contest.
The task was:
«Compose original and adaptive music for one or both of the gameplay videos you can find below. The approach for scoring a game will be different than for a film. You are limited by the ways a game limits you. This means that you can’t score directly what you’re seeing, because in a game it’s unpredictable what the player is doing, therefore you need to compose music that can realistically adapt to that. Instead of composing one track of music like you would for a film, you need to compose multiple tracks or stems for different scenarios. The final product will be basically be a demo of how the gameplay would have looked like if you had already composed the music and implemented it into the game. Therefore, if there is a cut in the gameplay footage there should also be a cut in your music.»
